Please add a Dashboard link to the dumb new edit page

The unintuitive new design is tricksy enough but also baffling without the tools you really need while editing. Whither the invaluable Headings 2 and 3? You have never listened to the complaints about the unreadable comic font you expect us to edit in either.

As far as I can tell it also takes four clicks via the home page to return to the dashboard. This desparately cries out for a shortcut button.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

So for some reason you don’t see the grey Admin bar, or the drop down menu on it that includes the word DASHBOARD?

No. There’s a blue admin bar at top showing L-R: Reader / My Sites / Stats
But none offering a Dashboard link.

Might this be a browser issue on new desktop Macs which seem prone to hide or overlap elements within a page? I use Firefox.

Possibly. I’m using Chrome and Safari on an old mac and don’t have this problem. Sounds like you’re on the GLOBAL dashboard, not the blog itself. Go to the blog itself and the name should be on the far left.

Not aware what the global dashboard is. But no, my blog name is not shown in the toolbar. This is the URL which curiously does not contain my blog name –
    https://wordpress.com/post/
… as it does in Classic design:
    https://shapersofthe80s.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
There is classic is the invitation: “There’s now an easier way to create on WordPress.com! Switch to the improved posting experience.”

So I’m toggling between both designs using the live link on the new post’s page, in each case.

I’ve searched Support for the phrase “GLOBAL dashboard” but can’t find an explanation. Any clues what it refers to?
