Please Add Hover Text For The Search Icon/Button/Whatever On Twenty Fourteen
-
Hello,
The Twenty Fourteen Theme (http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyfourteen/) has a Search Icon/Button/Whatever built into the theme on the right side of the Main Menu, the Further Theme (http://theme.wordpress.com/retired/further/) that the Twenty Fourteen Theme was based on had the word “Search” under that Search Icon so that you knew what that Icon was for without having to click it, but the Twenty Fourteen theme lacks the word “Search” and it even lacks Hover Text that shows the word “Search” if someone puts their mouse cursor over the Search Icon; and so they will have no idea what the Search Icon is for without clicking it unless they happen to already know what that Icon represents/is for already or they guess what it represents/is for.
So I was wondering if WordPress would at least add Hover Text that says “Search” when someone hovers their mouse cursor over the Search Icon on the Twenty Fourteen theme so that people will know what the Search Icon is for without having to click it first?
And/Or add the word “Search” under the Search Icon like in the Further theme, but I doubt that will happen. Hehehe ;)

Hello Dmorris12014,
I do not see any Topics started by you here at the forums when I look at your forum profile (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/dmorris12014).
You should create a Topic in one the forums here explaining in detail what you need help with so that someone can help you:

Hi johnjronline,
I am having the same problems with my site and it’s driving me a little crazy! How did you modify your search button so that the whole area of it is linkable? Mine is only around the edges, which I’ve been receiving complaints over. I’ve been trying to figure it out and I’m not sure what .php page or part of the style.css needs modification.
Also, to make a ‘Search’ button appear, delete the word ‘none’ out of this code on the style.css sheet,
.search-submit {
display: none ;
}It should make a physical button pop up on the left!
Cheers,
Marion

Hello Marionhume123,
Thank you for supporting my Topic/me, and I am glad that I am not the only person who would like to see this change.
At first I did not know what you meant by, The Whole/Entire Area Of The Search Button Being Linkable, but after clicking the Search Button on your blog a few times I figured out what you were talking about. ;)
I see that the Search Button on your blog only works if you click it around the edges, but if you try to click it in the middle/center it does not work and it is not Click-able.
I am using WordPress.com without any Upgrades and so I can not adjust the code for my blog, so my blog is using the default code, and so maybe your Search Button got messed up when you adjusted the code on your blog or something like that; but I have no idea, and so you will have to ask one of the Experts here at the Forums (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization) and they will probably be able to help you. ;)
Even though I can not adjust the code on my blog because I do not have any upgrades, I still would like to thank you for sharing that code, thanks. ;)
Good luck,
-John Jr
