PLEASE allow us to revert permanently to the classic editor

The new “beep beep boop” editor is probably nice for writing short content on mobile devices, but it is simply inadequate in MANY ways for writing long scholarly posts with complex revision history, as we do on Sauropod Vertebra Picture of the Week. I assume it’s just not intended for that purpose — which is your prerogative of course. But it’s awful for us to lose what used to be excellent tools.

You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/

The Classic Editor will continue to exist in wp-admin. We know some users prefer to use this editor, so we want you to have access to it, instead of phasing it out with the new version of the Dashboard. However, a link to the Classic Editor will not return to the New Editor. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/when-editing-an-old-post-how-do-i-switch-to-the-classic-editor?replies=5Features that won’t be included in the new editor

Thanks for the quick reply.
I am very glad that there is an escape route.
However, when I want to edit an existing post (which I do ALL the time — it’s the nature of our blog) consider …
OLD WORKFLOW:
1. Click the “edit” link.NEW WORKFLOW
1. Open new window so I can see the old one
2. In new window, go to my blog’s console
3. Click “posts”
4. Select and copy the title from the first window
5. Paste it into the search box of the second window
6. Click on “search”
7. Hope the title only matches one article
8. Click on “Edit” next to the articleIt’s just nuts. They’re supporting both anyway, since you can get to the old one by the laborious, inconvenient route. So why the heck not just let authors choose what’s appropriate for their blog and device?
I don’t understand why WordPress would think this is a reasonable thing. You’re supporting both editors anyway, since I can get to the old one by the laborious, inconvenient route. So why the heck not just let authors choose what’s appropriate for their blog and device?
I don’t get it. Why would that be so bad?
