PLEASE bring classic editor back as default
-
… Or at least give us a server side setting to choose it over that awful blue beep-boop travesty!
I had to create a bookmark for my browser’s bookmark bar in order to make sure I got the wonderful, efficient, fast and fully-featured classic editor when writing a new post.
However, there appears to be NO way to choose the classic editor when EDITING an existing post. Even though the post was created in the classic editor and I choose that every time I write a post, if I click the link to edit an existing post, it takes me back to that horrid new thing.
I see threads all over this forum begging WordPress.com to allow us to default to the classic editor for both writing and editing posts. No one likes that blue thing, anyone who has been using WordPress for longer than the blue thing has been around hates the “new editing experience”.
It should be a simple server side option, “use classic editor when writing/editing posts and pages”, so we can stay with what works well.
The old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, applies to so much in life.
If there IS already a way to make sure my blogs always default to the classic editor, and it’s hidden somewhere I haven’t been able to find it, please point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/
On the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New is where to create posts in the classic editor. If you have cookies enabled on your browser your preference will be saved unless or until your clear your cookies, and it will take you to the classic editor automatically every time you create a new post via the drop-down menu in the black admin bar or edit a post via the edit button on the blog itself.Mar 18, 2015, 10:29 AM
The Classic Editor will continue to exist in wp-admin. We know some users prefer to use this editor, so we want you to have access to it, instead of phasing it out with the new version of the Dashboard. However, a link to the Classic Editor will not return to the New Editor. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/when-editing-an-old-post-how-do-i-switch-to-the-classic-editor?replies=5Features that won’t be included in the new editor

Thank you, timethief, I believe you’ve just provided links to what I already know, and have just said above. :-) I already always use the classic editor to write a NEW post. I have created a bookmark to it.
I do NOT want to be ported to that awful new thing every time I want to EDIT a post. I am asking for an option, in our main account settings, for WordPress.com to respect our preferences and allow us to edit as well as write new posts in the classic editor.
Thank you, though, for taking the time to reply!

That used to be true, but no longer. It hasn’t worked like that for months — at least for me. I always have to scramble around in the ways you describe in order to use the classic editor — for posts and pages.
Almost a year ago, when the abominable Beep Beep Boop first appeared, I requested that we be allowed to set the classic editor as a permanent choice in our preferences, but it looks like that’s never going to happen.

Agreed, sensuouscurmudgeon — the cookies thing has never worked for me for editing an already created post. It always has loaded beep beep boop without giving me an option to use the classic editor for that purpose. I can create a new post with the classic editor by simply going through the wp-admin interface, and have created a button for my browser’s bookmarks bar to make it easier to do that. However, if a post is already written, and I click Edit to alter it, I am taken to beep every time, regardless. There is no option available anywhere to tell WordPress.com to use the classic interface for that purpose.
