    Hi Christine,

Currently, we do not offer support over the phone, but I’m happy to help you here!

    1) What can I do to get my site free of unsolicited ads. I know I can upgrade for a fee, but I want to make sure if I’m paying for an upgrade, #2 issue below does not continue.

The No Ads upgrade shown here should not affect the look of your site:

    2) What can I do to keep the appearance of my site constant. It is squirrely and changes back and forth (on Explorer and Firefox).

Can you explain a bit more about what you mean when you say “squirrely”? If you could upload screenshots of the issue, that would definitely help. Instructions for taking a screenshot can be found here:

    Take a Screenshot

Then, you can upload the screenshots to your Media Library so I can take a look!

    Hi Jeremy,

Thank you for your quick response.

Attached are two screen shots. The issue is the middle part of the template keeps getting bigger and covers up my photo (left margin) and palm tree (right margin).

Explorer is worse than Firefox, but both are causing an issue.

The site template I chose was fine for many months, then a couple months back I noticed the “expanding” issue with the middle of the template. To counter the expand, I went in and shrunk my photo and re aligned the palm tree. Now, again, the middle is expanded.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Is the issue stemming from a browser issue, or is the maker of the template modifying it?

    Thank you!

    Hey Christine!

Unfortunately, attaching images through email will not work. I won’t receive them. However, if you upload them to your Media Library, I’ll be able to take a look!

    Hi Jeremy,
I uploaded two screen shots to my media library one is named “Explorer”, the other “Firefox”.

    Thank you.

    Hi Christine,

I believe this is just the result of screen sizing. When the screen is shrunk in width, the background image is blocked a bit by the post column. First, can you make sure your browser window is as large as possible? Also, can you make sure your browser window is not zoomed in? In Firefox, this option is under View -> Zoom. There should be a similar setting in Internet Explorer. You’ll want the zoom set to 100%. Also, can you try closing the bookmark sidebar you have open in the screenshots? That could be causing the issue as well.

    Hi Jeremy,

You are right, if I adjust my view’s zoom on my laptop in Explorer and Firefox, it corrects the problem. However, I googled my website from my husband’s ipad and the issue still exists. If I search the website through my android phone, the view is way different. I need to be sure that when my clients google my blogsite, it is consistent no matter if they are using an ipad, pc, laptop, ipad, etc.

Are there WordPress templates (free or purchased) that are consistent no matter if viewed on laptop, smart phone, or ipad? I’d be disappointed if I paid for a website/blog template only to learn that it is not consistent.

I’m thinking I may need to find a different template.

Thank you for your assistance. Its been helpful! If you have any other tips, I’d love to hear them.

    Hi Christine,

Your current theme (Eventbrite Multi) is mobile responsive, meaning it adjusts the look of the site depending on the size of the browser window. For example, here’s how the site appears on my iPad Mini:

    IMG 0063

Here’s the appearance on an iPhone 5:

    IMG 1809

The layout will look different on various devices due to the screen size but the overall look and feel (colors, typography, etc) should remain the same. I believe you’re more concerned with how the different mobile views obscure your background image. Is that correct? If so, I would recommend uploading your image to your sidebar using the Image Widget here rather than using the background image:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/image-widget/

That will produce a much more consistent appearance across screen sizes. Can you give that a try?

    Hi Jeremy,

I figured out my issue, and you confirmed it as well. Phones will display differently, than PC’s or laptops.

I put my picture, logo, and header image all on the background. That is the issue. I checked out some of my favorite artists’ websites using my android, my husband’s Mac, and his Iphone, and their background is just one color or one pattern. That way, when their website is opened on a laptop, Iphone, android, mac, etc., the background expands to the size of the device’s screen, but the relevant images stay static.

I will make these changes and should be fine. I may stick with this template, or try a new template.

Thank you for your time and brainstorming through this with me. You have been very helpful!!! I’m good to go now, unless you have any other comments or suggestions.

If I need further assistance after trying out these modifications, I’ll contact WP support again.

    THANK YOU!
