Please can staff provide a backup of my blog

It’s been a while since I’ve taken a backup. I’m unable to do through the dashboard, last time I tried it said “It’s probably Matt’s fault” which I don’t doubt to be true :)
I have nearly 2000 published posts now, and I think this was the reason stated that I couldn’t do it via the dashboard. The files I think are too large.
So, dear staff please can you arrange a backup, that can be stored securely and picked up/downloaded by me for safe keeping.

I am sorry but that’s not going to happen. If it was a service Staff provided they would be run off their feet. You can create your own export files and you do not have to create a single big file.

P.S. In case the exporter is broken (and that’s what it sounds like to me) I tagged this thread for Staff assistance with resetting it.

@timethief – I do admire your sense of humour … did you actually read what I wrote prior to responding ?
I can’t do the export files myself, otherwise I would have done it myself already … this WAS/IS a serious genuine request … I had to ask staff to do it last time …

I apologize. Here we go again. You have reported an exporter failure and the error message indicates Staff need to fix the exporter for you.

No probs. When I needed to do this in the past they weren’t able to fix the exporter. I don’t know the technical details because I’m not server side. I know my export files were large > 35Mb and suspect that this may have been a cause.
I’m happier in fact to do my own exports. But they told me they’d have to do export for me last time, and unless the exporter’s been fixed in the last few months then they will have to do the same again this time. Obviously, because my blog is larger now not smaller.
Either, or, I don’t care, I just want the backup (export).

I can take care of this for you.
Staff members can process exports differently than members. Normally it doesn’t matter, but for large sites it does. So, in a way you are both right. We don’t do user site exports except it cases where a user can’t do their own.
I’ll send you a private email with the link as soon as I have it.

I’d prefer to do it myself anyway, as it’d be quicker and wouldn’t take your time away from other issues.
I’ve received the email and downloaded the file. 130MB uncompressed !
Please could you delete the file now, as the link isn’t protected by any security.
