Please can you help
-
My landing page is taking too long to load – probably due to the large size of my images. I tried resizing them to 1440 in width and 550 in height but was very unhappy withe the lack of sharpness in the resulting images. These have all been taken by me on my canon 100d therefore the originals are of great pic quality. How can I maintain the integrity of the images whilst improving speed of loading? Are there specs/pixel count you would suggest I use? Thanks in advance.

Generally speaking creating images that are exactly the size expected by the theme, in this case 1440 in width and 550, is the sweet spot for making the site load as quickly as possible, while also making sure your images look good.
I looked at your site, and it loaded at a pretty normal speed for me and the images look good. Do you have the large images up now or the smaller ones?
If it’s the larger images, could you try changing a couple to the recommended 1440×550 size so I can see the difference?
Thanks!
