Overview
“Please check your Primary Site’s Jetpack connection”
This error message appears on approximately half of the pages in my wp-admin area, preventing them from loading. Affected pages include:
- https://wordpress.com/page (error message)
- https://wordpress.com/settings/general (error message)
- https://wordpress.com/help/contact (page is blank)
- https://wordpress.com/plugins (error message)
- https://wordpress.com/hosting-config (error message)
- https://wordpress.com/post (page is blank)
Steps to reproduce
- visit aipathways.org/wp-admin
- click on “pages > add new” in nav bar on left
- Expected: I can create a new page or edit another page’s contents
- Actual: “Please check your Primary Site’s Jetpack connection”
(when clicking the wp-admin link in the message, admin site does not load.)
What I’ve tried to fix it
- Clear cache and reload page, etc. (normal client-side stuff)
- I also disabled uBlock origin and PiHole, no change
- Follow instructions at https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/fixing-jetpack-connection-issues/
- Debug tool says “Everything looks great!”
- Follow instructions at https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/
- Jetpack > Dashboard loads the dashboard and shows the “Connected” tag under VaultPress Backup – this is different than the doc shows
- “Deactivate / Delete” instructions also seem to be out of date or unavailable. Jetpack is “automatically managed for you.”
- Deactivate all plugins except Akismet and Jetpack (neither provide this option.)
- Checked list of plugins with known issues and see none which are active
- Attempt to Update Jetpack plugin
- Switch to “Twenty Twenty-Two” Theme (and now I can’t switch back)
- Checked site’s health status under Tools > Site Health. No issues reported.
- Checked /xmlrpc.php and got the correct “POST requests only” message
- I’d like to connect via SFTP, which I believe I’ve done in the past but don’t seem to have the connection information stored.
I think that at this point I really need professional support, however I can’t ask for it because the wordpress “contact us” page doesn’t load any content. Can anyone point me to an email address I could try? Or have additional things I could look at?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well, that was a surprise. I logged out and back in, and everything seems to be working normally for the moment. I never would have guessed that this problem would have to do with my account/session, but this thread had someone else resolve the same problem by logging out and back in.

Hi there, thaks for confirming that you were able to sort this out. If there is anything else you need a hand with you can reach us via the priority support options provided in your Business Plan (such as live chat) here: https://wordpress.com/help/contact

Thank you for responding! I would have loved to use that to ask for help; unfortunately, while I was in this state, that page was blank and unusable. It would be pretty helpful if there were an email address I could send to as well.

Thanks for posting this. I had the same problem – the log-out/log-in worked for me as well!
