Please check your primary site's jetpack connection

  • Unknown's avatar

This keeps appearing whenever I try to access my website to check the stats or post anything, preventing access to pretty much my entire wordpress. It also made it so I was unable to contact live chat despite being on a business plan, and now that plan has expired. How am I able to fix this?

    Thank you

  • Hi there!

It sounds like the site’s Jetpack connection was broken – this usually happens due to third-party plugin or theme conflicts but we would need to have a look to make sure what’s the cause.

Your Business plan expired back in July – was your idea to maintain it? If so, you can purchase it again from My Site>Plan>Plans and if the error is still there reach us through https://wordpress.com/help/contact so that we can have a look.

Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that.

Due to the jetpack error, I have been unable to purchase a new plan or access the contact portal.

  • The problem is that the Business Plan expired for the site.

You can either renew the plan at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases or we can downgrade the site to a free site for you.

Purchases don’t load for me either using that link due to the jetpack connection. Will I be able to use the promotion code I received? It expired since I wasn’t able to access the payment portal in time.

  • You should be able to purchase the plan here even if it isn’t connected:
    https://wordpress.com/checkout/visualnovelreviews.com

    Can you try that now?

I tried it and it still came up with the ‘Please check your primary site’s jetpack connection’ notification

  • I’ve sent you a link via email that you can use to pay for a new Business Plan on your site. Once we receive your payment we can add the plan back to your site manually.

Will I be able to use the promotion code I received? It expired since I wasn’t able to access the payment portal in time.

Of what promotion are you speaking? This plan has been expired and removed from your account since July, so there has been nothing to renew for several months now.

It looks like you contacted us about this same thing in September, in https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-check-your-primary-sites-jetpack-connection-10/, but never replied when we asked about the code you received. If this is something you received so long ago, we won’t be able to apply the code any more at this time.

As the code is no longer available, I would like to sign for a premium plan instead.

  • No problem, however, there are a few things to keep in mind here.
You’ll no longer be able to use plugins on your site so, any content that has been added to the site while plugins where installed, may be lost.
As a safeguard against that, please generate a full export of your site’s content, following these instructions:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/.

After that, create a free site, choose a subdomain like visualnovelreviewsbackup.wordpress.com and import the content there. Make sure all the media files are there and confirm here that you have a full backup of your site’s posts and pages, so that we can restore any missing content after the downgrade is complete.

    Thanks!

Okay, I have done so. “Premium” plan isn’t a selectable one to add to my cart currently, only business or ecommerce.

  • Hi there,

I have downgraded your site to the Free plan and you can now go ahead and purchase the Premium plan.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you. I’m happy to help.
