Please check your Primary Site's Jetpack connection Error

I keep getting the following message when trying to create a new page or navigate the jetpack. I have read other forums on disconnecting and reconnecting. However, when I try to access the settings tab in jetpack I also get the error “Please check your Primary Site’s Jetpack connection”.
