  Hi @silvertailedfox,

  If you’re on the free plan, to close your account, follow these steps at:

  Close Your Account

  If you’re using one of the WordPress.com paid plans you’ll have to downgrade your plan in which you’ll need staff assistance. This process will delete all of that site’s contents.

  If so, please confirm if you agree so that they can proceed with the procedure.

  Talk about circumventing, I came from the “support” pages as to how to delete your account and nothing is mentioned that is straight forward, this is why I am now writing here to get a straight forward response as to how to delete and close my account.
