  How about not tinkering with existing themes, picking one you like, and just going with it? Just blog. The prefab themes here are pretty good, and deleting a blog is permanent and irreversible.

  You are correct it looks like crap

  If you delete the blog – as noted above it is gone forever and the URL can never be used again

  Two suggestions

  1) loose the background image – delete it whatever – it is too strong

  2) don’t paste in from what ever Microsoft product you are using into your blog – use the insert text option on the bottom edit bar – that will strip out the junk
