… please delete my images from your gravatar cache server …
-
I deleted all images from my gravatar account, but they are still available from direct link.
I want them to be deleted, because google still index them.
Can you forward this question to one of the moderators.
Thank you. -
Hi dlindea,
Please try clear your cache
You can find help with removing the images but ultimately WordPress has no control on indexed contents on google
http://support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
There’s no guarantee but your images could be removed from Google’s registry so it won’t show in searches anymore.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removalsThis could help with blocking contents being searched on google:
I hope this helps

Well the point is that the images are saved on your gravatar server. They have URL like that:
http://en.gravatar.com/userimage/11852xxx/54c96d1xxxxx9007107a355a605?size=512
I changed url because I don’t want google to index my image directly.
Can you ask your moderators to delete all associated avatars from your server? -
Hi
i am tagging this post as ‘modlook’ for WordPress staff assistance. Please wait for some time they will get back to you on this.

because there is a direct links that show image and not a 404 error google continue index my gravatars if they are already in the search database
As I said the URL example is modified by me (I added xxxx symbols) right now it showing 404 error but originally I can open my gravatar that I already deleted from the control panel. -
-
by the way this function should be realized without creating a topic here, I mean just imagine I upload an image as avatar, then I delete this image but originally the image is not deleted and continue be indexed by search engine systems it’s like there is no way to remove avatar…

Hi there,
I will tag this a “modlook” for a staff to take it up for here and look into the images that you request to be permanently deleted.
-
If you are receiving a 404 Not Found error when accessing the direct link to the image, then the image has been removed. If you are still seeing it, as our forum volunteer @ceoadebayo recommended earlier, try clearing your browser cache and cookies. You can also post a real link to one of the images in this thread so we can test as well.
WordPressdotcom has no control over how quickly Google removes content from their caches. Usually it is between 4-6 weeks. You can use the information @ceoadebayo provided to request removal at Google.

I am not receiving 404 error.
This is the real example of the link:
en.gravatar.com/userimage/118520014/54c96d1521f1524579007107a355a605?size=512 -

I cleaned everything, the problem is not related to my browser. The image physically saved on your server

Thanks for providing a real link to one of the Gravatar images. Let’s wait now for Staff to reply to this thread.

Hi there,
Gravatar images are cached on several servers around the world, and it takes time for those caches to be cleared. If you just wait a few hours all cached copies will be removed automatically.
I’ve manually deleted that image from our cache, though it might still be accessible for a little while. If there are any other images I please need the exact links at which you’re still able to access them to delete those files from the cache manually.
Also note that the images may still be cached with and accessible via Google. We have no control over that, as we don’t have access to Google’s servers. Please contact Google support directly to have the images removed from their servers.
