Please Help

I’ve written about this before (sometime in late August or early September) but did not get an answer from anyone. I have taken over as the supervisor of an instructional materials center at our School District. The person who had this job before cannot remember the password she set up for the blog and, as her email is no longer valid (she was laid off in June), I cannot have a new password link sent to her account. Is there a way to transfer the account to me without having to start all over (I have set up a new account but would rather keep the same name and materials that she input already). Every blog has a sole owner and it is the person with the username account who registered the blog under that username account and associated email address. No there isn’t. Staff cannot just hand a blog over to anyone without the written permission of the actual owner of the blog.

How can I have her contact you to switch the ownership? She no longer works for the school district and has no interest in the blog. I, on the other hand, need to do the blog but would prefer not to have to reinvent the wheel, so to speak (the blog), if i don’t have to. I don’t know for sure that I can get in touch with her, but if I can, how should she go about getting in touch with you?

I’m sorry you find yourself in this situation. As you do not own the blog and as Staff cannot violate the privacy of the blog’s owner and give her blog to you, your only hope is to contact the blog’s owner, have her log in under the username account that registered the blog, and follow the required steps to transfer it to your username account.
She must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased upgrades to renew them or transfer the blogs and the upgrades to another username account.
To transfer a blog from one username account A to another username account B she must first log in under the username account A that owns the blog you want to transfer to the other username account.
Then she must add the other username account B as an Admin of the blog.
