PLEASE HELP!

We no longer have access to the email account associated with our domain to do any of the recovery methods you all suggest. We have the transaction number and everything. Our domain has just expired and we are trying to renew it. HELP!

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Unknown

  • Hello there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

Are you able to confirm the URL of the website that you need assistance with please?

  • Since you have the transaction ID, you can send this to us as proof of ownership so we can restore access to the account that owns that domain.

Follow these instructions to retrieve that transaction ID from your card statement:

    https://wordpress.com/support/billing-history/#on-your-credit-card-statement

and then send it to us through this form:

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

Please DO NOT POST any transaction details in this public forum. Use the form I linked above.

I have tried that form many times and have tried it again. I have tried all the options on that form. All I want is to renew my domain name. I am getting an message “Sorry but the website you gave does not exist on WordPress.com. Is it a self-hosted WordPress.org website?” I have also gotten the message that says just go reset your password for lost email. Is there not a manual override or something you can do on your end?

In order to do this, you need to prove that you’re the owner of the account, which we cannot do on the public support forums due to privacy and security concerns. Additionally, we can only reach out to the email address on file for the account.

The account recovery form is likely not working with your registered domain since it’s expired at the moment. Instead, log out of your account (or open an incognito browser window) and go to https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/ and enter the charge information. You need to be logged out in order to submit a support ticket otherwise you’ll see an error message.

Once you enter the charge information, you’ll get a form to submit a support request and someone from Support will help you with recovering the domain.

Let us know if you have any questions.
