Please help adding admin feature column posting

  Hello,

  I am trying to add a feature to a new theme i bought. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

  When i create a post, it posts the excerpt with the “read more” to the front page in two colomns. Each post goes into its own little box.

  What i would like to do is add a checkbox where you publish the post, where i can tell it to. Post in a single box accross the page or do the standard two box method. I would like both options, but can only do the two column mode now.

  Can someone point me in the right direction as to what to change, and what, or where to start poking around. How complex is this,
