Is it possible to imbed a counter button (customizable) on my front page which people can press? So I only require a one page website which displays a big button please can press. Below my blog and room for people to leave messages. Not sure if possible?

    Thanks very much!

Hi there, Mark! I’m not entirely certain if a counter button is what you need, if you’re hoping it will allow people to leave messages. Counters are generally automated and display the sum of the hits to your site. You can do that by adding the Blog Stat widget to your sidebar. Click Appearance → Widgets in your site’s Dashboard, and then install the widget wherever you’d like it to appear.

If you would like folks to be able to contact you by clicking a button, I will offer you a few other solutions:

A contact form is highly customizable and gives you a lot of flexibility. These comments will be sent directly to you via email:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

You can add an interactive Poll to the bottom of the page, collecting any information you’d like from your visitors:

Finally, you can turn on comments for your front page, so people can post their thoughts, and they will be published directly on your page. In order to do this, your front page must be static, rather than a running display of your posts. You can place that post page elsewhere on your site. Here are instructions about enabling comments, and creating a static front page:

    en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/
    en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

Finally, each of your individual posts can be commented on, if that’s where you’d prefer to gather your visitors’ thoughts.

I hope these ideas help. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks!

Thanks for the fast and helpful reply. Really great service.

Question was partially solved. Counter for number of hits on my site was not what I was looking for. I was and still am looking to put a counter on my front page on top which people visiting my site can choose to press. As many times as they like. Not sure if something would be possible but it sounds pretty easy and straightforward.

Second part of our answer is really helpful since it is exactly what I was looking for. The site is mean for people to post , messages below the button so this is something I will definitely change and incorporate.

Still missing though is the button/counter. Hope you may have some advice on that part?
    Thanks again.
    Mark

Hiya Mark, First, I’m so glad the second part of the answer helps. Terrific!

We actually don’t have anything in place that is a counter that a visitor to your site could click. I think there may be a way to customize a poll in order to create this ability for your visitor. It would look something like this:

After the visitor clicked, they’d see something like this:

You can play with this tool to see if it might work for you:

If this doesn’t do the trick, could you tell me exactly the purpose of this button? Maybe if I understand your goal better, I can be of more assistance. Are you trying to collect data of some sort?
Thanks so much for the follow up!
