Please Help Me Get rid of Pingbacks!

    Hi, WordPress.

    Although I tried to deactivate the default article setting of “Allow Trackbacks or Pingbacks” on the discussion panel, pingbacks still appear whenever I publish a new post on my own blog.

    Please help me eliminate pingbacks because they appear as COMMENTs from me on my blog. I do not understand the usefulness or purpose of pingbacks and I don’t think I need them whenever I am publishing new posts on my own blog.

    I appreciate your advice to get rid of these pingbacks. Thank you,

    Hi Janette,

    Disabling pingbacks from the Discussion Settings page will keep them from being enabled on new posts and pages you create, but they are still enabled on posts and page that you published previously. That means a pingback will be created if you link to one of those previously published posts/pages.

    There are a few ways you can deal with this:

    1. You can disable pingbacks on individual posts or pages by going to the post editor and unchecking the box next to “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page” in this discussion module.     2. If you want to disable pingbacks on multiple posts or pages at once, you can use the Bulk Edit feature to do this faster. To do this, go to Posts > All Posts (or Pages > All Pages) in your dashboard and select the posts you want to change. In the Bulk Edit drop-down menu, select Edit and click Apply. In the options that appear, open the drop-down menu next to Ping on the right and select “Do not allow.” Click the Update button to save the changes.
