PLEASE HELP ME!!! How to install wordpress on hostgator
-
Hi everyone, PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
I am a technological MORON, so speak to me as you would to a 5 year old child. :)
So, today, I went over to GoDaddy.com and I bought myself a brand spankin’ new domain name.
Then, I sauntered over to HostGator.com and I signed up for their baby hosting account.
Next, I went back to GoDaddy, and I changed the DNS servers for my domain from GoDaddy to HostGator.
And now, I would like to create my website! You know, as in the pages and content that my visitors will see!
So after HOURS of blindly bumbling around the internets, trying to figure out how the hell to do this (and after several attempts at fumbling with FTP accounts and MySQL databases and Fantastico in my hostgator cPanel…. which absolutely nothing, as far as I can tell), I’ve stumbled upon QuickInstall in my HostGator cPanel. Apparently, this makes installing website templates themes from different sources, such as wordpress.org, SUPER easy.
Alas, even this did not work for me.
I tried QuickInstall and I filled in the fields and when I press “install” ….. an error comes up saying that all those files already exist!
???
So I went back to my FTP accounts and MySQL Databases and any wordpress text files I downloaded through Fantastico and I deleted it all. But when I go back to QuickInstall to install wordpress, it STILL says that those files already exist and it won’t let me do anything else!!
Is there any other way to install wordpress?
HELP? PLEASE????
