Please help me remove a site from "my blogs" that is no longer active.
-
Hello wordpress community!
I’m hoping to remove a blog from “my blogs” so I can clean up my sites a bit. I’m an admin on the site that hasn’t been active since ’09, but I’m not its creator. I just cannot find a way to remove it under the “my blogs” page. I’ve seen other similar posts, and it seems like you need a staff member to remove it, for whatever reason. Can someone help me remove this blog from my list?

Thank you for your help! :)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Provided you post the URLs of self hosted blogs you want deleted from your account into a forum thread like this one, Staff can do this for you. Please do that now as I tagged this thread for their assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

However, in your case you are referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog you did not register. That means you can use the leave a blog feature. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#leave-a-blog Note that it may take several days for the My Blogs page data to update.

in the “tools” section, if i select “delete site”, does that delete ALL my blogs, or just the one whose dashboard i am in?

All blogs are independent websites and deleting one does not have any affect on any other blogs registered under the same username account.

@timethief
Thanks! :) I tried using the way to remove myself in the “manage my blogs” under the dashboard and from “manage my blogs”! :)For others, I was confused because there are two places with very similar names. I was looking under “manage my blogs” (the option you have when you hover over your name). This does not give you access to remove yourself from a blog. Instead, go to the dashboard of your site. There will be a link on the left panel that says “my blogs.” It’s on that page that you can remove yourself from a blog.
Thanks for the help, and I hope this helps others as well!

hi timethief, thanks for the quick response. i just use a free site(s) i created on the same email account here at wordpress.com. so i had two sites. but i wanted to move my primary blog to a different url address, so i started a THIRD blog, moved the content over and named the third blog what the first blog was named. so now i have three blogs in my list when i hover over my name in the upper right hand corner, two of which have the same name!
so today, i think i read that i DON’T want to actually delete my first blog b/c then i will never be able to use that url again, is that correct? so since i might want to use it again in the future, i’d like to change the name that shows up in that little mini list when i hover over my name in the upper corner so that i don’t have 2 with the same name, which is very confusing. so i went in the settings and tried to change the “site title” to something different and it didn’t work!
i went into the left hand sidebar, clicked “settings”, “general”, typed in a new “site title”, clicked “save changes” and it STILL shows up as the former name in the upper right hand corner under my name. the really weird thing is that if i go to that menu in the upper corner, select the blog by its former name, then “dashboard”, it will show in the upper LEFT corner its NEW name! please help!! thank you!!

@yowassup
Yes, deleting a blog URL is a permanent ie.irreversible act.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/To set a blog’s visibility to private see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
If you want to change the Site Title (blog name not the URL) then the Site title and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General
“save changes” -

ok, i can’t help but laugh now, b/c apparently someone went in to try to fix it and they changed BOTH blogs with the same former name to the same new name! to clarify, i would like each blog to have a different name…
i went in to try to change this and have the same problem. the titles are different at each blog, but in the upper right hand corner, they still show the same name. please help!

I’d like to help but I am entirely confused now. :)
@ buddrball are you all set now, or do you still need help?
@ yowassup, I can see you removed yourself as the owner of bloggedybbb.wordpress.com. I also see you still own yowassup.wordpress.com and yesmiller.wordpress.com. Assuming you haven’t already sorted this out, please specify what you are trying to accomplish and for which blog.

thanks, someone on staff must’ve fixed it. i removed bloggedybbb and transferred it to another owner. i was trying to get rid of the yesmiller.wordpress.com from the list of ‘my blogs’ and when i couldn’t, i wanted it to at least have a different name (they both were originally titled ‘the anti-blog’) b/c that was super confusing to me. when i re-titled one, it still showed up with both of them having the same name. so apparently they removed the yesmiller.wordpress.com. but hmmm….i hope that doesn’t mean they deleted it because i wanted to reserve the url for future use and when i started to delete it, i cancelled the process b/c i didn’t want to lock myself out of that url. do you know if i can still use it in the future?
-
ok, disregard that last post…i do NOT know what is going on w/the displaying of my blogs, but now they are both there, with the correct titles and all is right with the blog world. but seriously, someone is majorly messing with me, so i’m glad they quit. :)

Thanks @ buddrball!
Since I’ve heard from both of you, I’m going to close this thread. If either of you have other issues in the future, please feel free to post a new thread at that time. :)
