Please help me to embed this code — pleeeease !!

    I have a piece of code i need to embed on my blog , but ive looked and looked and cant figure out how to do it.
    I messaged support about it but no-one has got back to me

    This is the code

    <embed src="http://player.believe.fr/player/5060114362222/6/black/0/0/0/EN/" quality="high" wmode="transparent" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="490" />

    I wanted to make a new page and have this on it and nothing else. It should be a Player , but anytime i’ve tried to put it in , only the code has been showing in the preview , and not the player.

    Halp !!!

    Thx in advance

    Javascript, flash, iframes and forms are not allowed here due to security concerns. There are also limits on the plain HTML that can be used here. WordPress.COM is a multi-user platform which means we all share the same underlying theme and wordpress files and any bad code, or security issue introduced by a user could bring down a bunch of blogs.

    thesacredpath — i understand. Disappointed , but i understand. I wanted to have a site where i didnt have to rely on 3rd party workarounds as much as possible , because i want the fans / followers to know everything is under one roof.

    Timethief — they dont help i’m afraid. This is a very special player that has links to itunes etc…on it , and cant be replicated as easily as that., but thanks.

    Sorry for the duplicated post. I thought it was relevant to both topics.

    If you want to have a site that doesn’t rely on third party workaround AND has multiple rich media formats, you’ll need to leave WordPress.com, I’m afraid. You can get hosting and use WordPress.org software and it works very similarly to ours here.

    but i love wordpress , and i’m planning on setting it up in conjunction with my domain name once i figure all the DNS server stuff out , and i’ll buy additional space at some point too.
    Its just a bit awkward to point people to a player on a page somewhere else, that is quite a media-rich page as it is , and therefore not quite as easy to locate as it would be if it were just…..here , and also because i know people have gotten quite lazy in their surfing habits and want the minimum amount of clicks possible and are turned off at things like diversions , slow loading pages etc…..

    Im not sure why the player in question poses a security fear , as i dont know much about javascript , but i’ll find some way of making it as painless as possible to link to it in another way.
    Thanks.

    Javascript and flash cannot be inserted by bloggers since wordpress would have no control over that, and if the code was bad, or had a security hole in it, it could bring down the entire system. Someone could take good code from the internet somewhere, rewrite it and insert malware or something like that and then post it here and possibly bring down over 2 million blogs.

    Facebook and blogger fight this issue all the time and bad code has brought down a number of such sites in the recent past.

    failbook needs brought down lol

  • Unknown's avatar

    lol … and leave all those failbook fake farmers and data miners with nothing to do all day? :D

  • Unknown's avatar

    Yeah, they might all come over here and start blogs.

    {shudder}

  • Unknown's avatar

    Nah, they’ll just keep on tweeting.

    You mean, retweeting. There are only 23 original tweets. All the others are simply those original 23 reworded and tweeted again.

    Hi Guys

    http://jayl27.wordpress.com/

    Would the same issues come up if attempting to bring in a widget from sites such as elance, suite101 or constant-content?

    Below is a widget I’ve been trying to post onto my blog but am struggling to do so. Any help on how to do it would be much appreciated.

    <!-- Suite101 -->
    <div class='widget_wrap' style='width:728px;'>
    <div class="widget_logo">
    <div class="ACP_green" style="float:right; width:200px; text-align:center;">
    Become a freelance writer!
    </div>

    <img src="http://graphics.suite101.com/logo_widgets_com.png" title="Suite101" alt="Suite101"/>

    </div>
    <div class="widget_text">
    Latest Articles by Jay Longley
    </div>
    <div class="widget_item">
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.suite101.com/rss/widget.js?topic=0&type=articles&author=696607&size=1" type="text/javascript">
    </script>
    </div>
    </div>
    <!-- Suite101 -->

    That has javascript in it and the javascript will be stripped out. Also, there are a bunch of CSS classes called that are almost 100% certainly not in the CSS for the themes here, so that is a problem as well.
