Please help me with email subscriptions (pop up / embedded forms)!
-
Hi
I would prefer to use mail chimp to manage my email subscriptions.
I have created a mailchimp pop up – but this only pops up first time I assume (unless you clear cookies etc).
So in addition to the mailchimp pop up I want to have a form that will sit permanently in the side of my blog to allow people to subscribe – essentially the same as the WordPress.com follow my blog option…but I would prefer it to be mail chimp else I have one lot of subs from the pop up via mailchimp (that is only on first visit) and another mailing list via wordpress.
Does that makes sense???
So – after a lot of googling I thought the answer was to create a form mailchimp via Jotform. I have done this and linked it with mailchimp. BUT I don’t know how I then add this form to my wordpress.com site – as a side bar form??
I have searched around a lot and still cant seem to resolve this?
Can someone explain what I should do / show me how it looks?PS
if this isn’t the way – what do other wordpress.com users use for email subscription ie for pop up and permanent forms without having to have 2 separate methodsHope that makes sense
Thanks a lot!

Hi Mabes,
JotFroms can only be embedded in posts and pages, not widgets. To embed your MailChimp subscriber form in a widget in your sidebar you should use the Wufoo method.
First, integrate your MailChimp with Wufoo by following these instructions:

then, follow these instructions to embed your form to a widget:

Thank you fstat – I have added the form as a widget!

Next questions:
Q1. From my pop up Mail chimp widget I get emails from Mail Chimp when someone has subscribed. But for the new Wufoo subscriber form, although the subscriber details are in the mail chimp dashboard if I login, I do NOT get the Mail Chimp emails telling me someone has subscribed. Is this normal? Do I have to get notifications direct to my email from Wufoo instead, OR am I missing some other trick (id prefer to receive updates only from a single source eg Mail Chimp if possible)Q2. do I have to have the confirmation after form is submitted as sometimes it seems to then squeeze the blog page as a result?
Q3. is there any way to remove the “report abuse” link?
Thanks a lot

Hi there,

This is the way Wufoo works. But just to make sure you can ask both MailChimp and Wufoo if there’s a way to get that notification.
RE: Q2 – it seems to happen in IE…Firefox looks ok – as does Safari. But when I submit the form in IE, it seems to squash the blog over to one side??
This is happening because Internet Explorer is not compatible with the latest web technologies. Although we at WordPress.com fully support IE, others like MailChimp and Wufoo may have dropped support for it.
Q3. is there any way to remove the “report abuse” link?
This is something you have Wufoo to ask as we don’t have any control over that form. Although I believe that this is in some way required.

Hi again
thank you so much for your help to date.
I have the mail chimp pop up and also a Woofoo widget embedded into my blog that feeds mailchimp. So when I go to the mail chimp site I see the X subscribers details (and get emails when people sign up).
And new subscribers get an email confirming their subscription
HOWEVER, am I missing a step…as I thought subscribers would automatically get an email when there is a new blog post….but they don’t seem to (ive checked a few).
The only people get “new post notifications” are those that are following direct on word press…but not via the Mail Chimp route.
Any ideas??

Hi Mabes,
MailChimp is mainly used to create email lists and then dispatch email newsletters to those subscribed.
If you want your visitors to get an email when you publish a new post there are several built-in ways to do that:
