Please Help : Photos on blog not good quality
-
Hey there,
Am hoping someone can help as I don’t understand why the photos look much worse quality when posted to my blog. Even when smaller than the original. Does anyone have any tips/comments on how to rectify this. I can’t include it here but I took a screen shot of the original photo on my computer and what it looks like on the blog and it sucks!
Would really appreciate some help,
thanks,

Thank you.
So it looks like nothing can be done and I’ll have to change to another site then. Not what I was hoping for! -
So it looks like nothing can be done
Yes, follow the instructions in the article I linked you.

Lots of photo based blogs here – so should be no need to move once the issue if found
in one case you uploaded a picture that was about 250 px wide but it was displayed as 600 wide – that will mess things up every time
there also seems to be an issue (might be my browser) but I can’t seem to click on any of your Posts to read just that post
-
Thanks Galois but I don’t understand the article you sent me. It talks about coding!
auxclass – you’re right about the clicking on individual posts. Do you know what I need to do to fix that? And what do you suggest I do about uploading photos. I still don’t get what I need to do to fix the quality! If they’re from the web it makes sense why some of them would be less quality but if I thought that if I transfer photos from my iphone at the largest size, the quality would be the best and then I just upload. -
What I suggest is found here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/03/26/cropper-or-proper-image-preparation/

thanks thistimethisspace but how do I know what size to resize them at. Does it tell me somewhere on my blog dashboard what size photos should be?
-
I have flagged this for the staff to look at why your Posts are not able to be clicked on since more than one visitor seems to have an issue

Dashboard >> Settings >> Media – shows the stock sizes of images for your blog – but use caution with the numbers
My settings show 1024 px as the large size – but I usually upload the images as 600 wide and display as 300 wide in the Posts – but my use is a bit different than yours –

This is not the link I was looking for but it should also help a bit

Any time you take a small picture and make it bigger, you lose quality. Also, every time you take a big picture and make it smaller you lose quality too. The solution is to use a graphics program like Paint offline to make the image the size you want via the Resize function. Then save it, then upload that version. That way it will stay crisp.

thank you auxclass and raincoaster for the advice! I really appreciate it :) I need to read The Idiot’s Guide to WordPress :)
-
I checked media settings and found out I’d been loading all the images as small instead of large!! World of difference . You rock, auxclass :)
-
@auxclass: I don’t understand why the article you gave the link would be better than I linked to. Mystery.
Greetings to all.

They both cover about the same – just a bit different, but there is some info that is extra in the one I linked to covering the many options for programs that edit pictures
There is another link somewhere that is much more involved that either one but can’t remember where it is
