Please help: Qick Quest: Use #, tag, or obsolete? And 1 prob
-
Almost ready, just one or two final hurdles I could not find answers too, so assistance would really be greatly appreciated.
Is using hashtags useful in WordPress posts?
If so, is it beneficial to put a block at the end of the post for one or two hashtags (would it be a paragraph block?), or include it in the post itself, or does it matter?
What about tags?
Or have hashtags and tags become obsolete in blog posts?
Also, I have been trying for DAYS to find an answer to the next question that works and have failed, so help with this would be greatly appreciated as well.
I’m using Windows 11 desktop. Is there any way to edit the font in the ‘Post Title’, specifically color, bold/italic/underline, or type, that would not affect the global template? It does not show up as a ‘block’ or a ‘header’ so I have not been able to do anything with it. If I could only choose one of those, it would be to change the Post Title font. If I could choose a second, it would be Italics. I would really like to know how… Please?
Thank you very much. Have a great day.

You’ll want to use tags instead. They’ll show up in your post, with placement depending on how you have your theme set up.
And yes, those are useful for exposure, so long as you don’t overuse them. We have tips here: https://wordpress.com/support/topics/#your-content-in-tags

I just saw your other thread. Generally, if you use this guide site editing, you should have more control over titles and everything else related to your templates. Just note some style settings are only available in the Premium plan at this point.
Site Editing (formerly known as Full Site Editing or FSE) is a collection of interrelated features that unlocks the ability to edit your entire site using blocks. This allows you to take advantage of the familiar and flexible experience of the Block Editor in more places. Yes, the underline issue was finally resolved! Thank you for letting me know that there are formatting differences between packages. It was just peculiar that all the other fields had simple formatting but that one did not. Apparently it does, it just didn’t show up before.
And I did see the tags input field. Does that mean the hashtags that you see everywhere else are not supported here? Or are they just not necessary, or recommended?
I’m trying to clarify if it would be beneficial to add a hashtag or two at the end of some posts, or would it be fruitless or detrimental.
Thank you very much. Have a great day.

PS. If hashtags still matter, is putting them in as a tag any better, or is just one or two at the end of the post more effective?
Thank you very much.

Hi there!
I’m trying to clarify if it would be beneficial to add a hashtag or two at the end of some posts, or would it be fruitless or detrimental.
You’ll want to use the Tags function instead of adding hashtags in the body of the post. There’s no particular benefit to adding hashtags in the body that I’m aware of, and it certainly doesn’t make your site visible on those topics in the WordPress.com reader if you add hashtags in the body of your post. Instead, you’ll want to use a few relevant tags and categories to your posts.
Hope that helps!
