Please help, trying to add a domain for $18/ year
-
I created my first website on WordPress a year ago and successfully set it up where I have a custom domain for $18/ year. I now have another website, and cannot for the life of me figure out how to add a domain for this same price. When I try, the only option I am given is to upgrade to Premium for $99/ year. Is there any way around this? Please help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Domains are no longer available for purchase or mapping individually. They are included with the WordPress.com Personal, Premium, or Business plans:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
This change has been made as we work to offer the best combination of value and performance for users while still offering a completely free product for those who do not wish to purchase any upgrades.
A great way to go if you are not interested in WordPress.com Premium is to look into setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org site through a hosting provider such as Bluehost, GoDaddy, or Pressable.

Thank you for your response. I went ahead and purchased a plan, but I have somehow managed to mess it all up :/
“balancedlebanon.com’s name server records should be configured. Learn more”
Neither the new domain I tried to map or the original name with the”.wordpress” in it work now when typed in the address bar.

It looks like you have your nameservers set correctly. Can you log into your godaddy account (or as their support team) and check to make sure that there are no CNAME or A-Records pointing to WordPress.com as well?
You should use either nameservers or CNAME/A-Records, not both. Sometimes registrars will tell people to use both for some reason.
Also, if you just changed the nameservers recently, be aware that it can take up to 48 hours for that change to propagate across the internet.

If the domain is no longer through go daddy, can I still log into that account and make these changes? I had a friend helping me originally with getting a custom domain for my WordPress website. They purchased it for me via go daddy, but about 20 minutes later when I realized I could get a custom domain with the most basic upgraded plan through WordPress, we immediately called back and had it released. But since then neither the old domain or new domain work. That was on Saturday. Thank you for bearing with me on this. This is all so far beyond my comprehension levels lol.

I am so very horrible at all of this. Please don’t judge me. I received an email from a WordPress associate who said I would be able to go in and now add the custom domain using my free account credit. I went all the way through the check out process, and then at there end when I tried to submit it, received an error message that I couldn’t because the domain already exists and couldn’t be used, which I don’t understand because it is available. After a few attempts I went back and then tried the “already own a domain” option, thinking maybe that’s why the error was saying that it already exist, and then it did let me check out, but now I am in the same boat with the error messages that I need to configure dns. I still can’t access my website, and neither can my customers. Please, please help. I don’t know what else t do. Thanks.

Canceled domains are not made immediately available as an anti fraud measure. You will need to talk to godaddy and ask them when the domain will be released into the pool of available domains again.

And no judgement on our end. Domains can be frustrating!
But as I mentioned earlier, you will need to talk to GoDaddy and find out when the domain will be available again.

Can you all on your end, fix it again where I can go to the domain page and claim my domain? Before I messed it up, the person who emailed me had it where A button showed up that I had a credit I could claim. And then I won’t attempt to click it again until I talk to go daddy and find out when it will be released. They did mention something about 48-72 hours, but maybe they were talking about something else, like the refund.
