Please help with subpages!

Hi.
Apologies if this is glaringly obvious, but I’m having real difficulty trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. On this site, http://tinyurl.com/ycck5tr I’m trying to organise the links on the right into hierarchies, without them all appearing on the home page. The problem is, even though they are selected as being sub or child pages, they are all still appearing.
I suspect it may be something to do with being a static front page?
As I say, apologies if this is really stupid…
