Please help – wordpress is ignoring my line spaces!

Im going a bit mad here trying to understand why today wordpress is not allowing me to have spaces between paragraphs. It is not normally a problem, but today, no way. I have retyped, copied across, removed the carriage returns and put in new ones. Nothing helps! The whole post reads as a huge wodge of text and looks terrible! Thanks

While in the Visual Editor, look at the first row of the icons at the top of your edit area. The second item on that row is a drop down choice of “styles”. Make sure that shows “paragraph”.

More on the visual editor and its icons here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/

And more details on the styles here:

Let us know if that solves the issue.

Thanks for your response, but unfortunately it does not solve the problem.

‘Paragraph’ is already in use throughout the document (as it has always been – I have never changed it).

Any further suggestions very gratefully received! I have spent such a lot of time on this, to no avail, and it is putting me off using wordpress.

(Plus there was an earlier, similar glitch on a previous post, where it ignores the ‘style’ in the heading, again without my having changed anything.)

I seem to have found a way of correcting for this – going back to your advice (above) I went through the document, changing the ‘style’ FROM ‘paragraph’ to some other thing and then back again. It sometimes took a few changes to get it to work, but finally it looks the way it should.

Not sure how this all went wrong, but if anyone else is having similar issues, going back and forth a few times sorted it for me.
