Please Let Me Have My Voice Threads!
-
I have been trying, without success, to find a way to embed my VoiceThreads into my WordPress blog. The developers of VoiceThread have been working with me to try to make it happen and they have been wonderful – but we still have not been able to do it. WP seems to strip the code…can you help??? This is a wonderful application that allows people to combine pictures and voices on blogs…a great way to start a community conversation. I write an art blog and have several ideas for using VoiceThreads – but WP needs to let it work on my site! Please!!!
Thanks in advance for your help

Is your blog hosted at WordPress.com? What is the URL of your WordPress blog?
If you are hosted here, you should familiarize yourself with the audio formats that WordPress.com allows. Checking the FAQ in the future will save you loads of time.
http://faq.wordpress.com/?s=audioYou should also learn to contact staff directly with feature requests. They don’t trawl the forums looking for suggestions.
If your blog is not hosted at WordPress.com, you need to read the sticky thread marked Read Me First.

Thanks raincoaster. I did try to contact staff directly two weeks ago and did not receive a response which is why I posted here yeserday.
The link you suggested was interesting, but Voicethread is an swf file, not an mpg – and so far the swf file plug-ins that I’ve tried have not worked.
My blog is not hosted here, but my hosting site, who has also tried to be helpful, explained to me that they simply repackage WP and sell it as part of their hosting packages…they know very little about how to modify the code, etc. I read the sticky thread above and the FAQ’s and about everything I could find on the ‘net before posting here.
My understanding is that WP strips the code on anything that tries to embed – for security purposes. I am looking for a way around this. This was a last-ditch effort to get some help from the folks at WordPress…or any other kind soul who may have a suggestion.
My blog address is http://www.polymerclaynotes.com

No, you are misunderstanding the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org (or your hosters are). They work completely differently. WordPress.com strips embeds. WordPress.org does not host blogs, and therefore it does not strip embeds. There is no reason you can’t use your swf files on your independently hosted blog, but for tips on how to do that and other things, you need to be asking at WordPress.org, as suggested in the thread Read Me First.

Many thanks raincoaster. I’ll give that a try. I appreciate your patience and willingness to help.

it would be great if wordpress were to add a voice thread plugin (info found at http://voicethread.com/share/4643/). I think that it would add to your bloggers experience.
Thanks.
