Please make WordPress more accessible for visually impaired readers
-
I just want to make a suggestion: Rob Long has highlighted the problem for visually impaired readers of Twitter to get access to pictures. In connection with that, I realised that my blog is not particularly “eyesight impaired friendly”. Now my blog is self-hosted so I was able to add the “Real Accessability” plugging, however, the free versions on WordPress.com can’t do that. I think it should be compulsory on blogs in the WordPress blogosphere to be an inclusive platform. Is that possible? Kind regards Bee
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thank you for bringing this up.
At the present time, WordPressdotcom does have a number of themes which are considered accessibility ready- themes which adhere to accessibility best practices like color contrast, keyboard navigation and form/link focus. WordPressdotcom users can find those themes here: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/accessibility-ready
However, accessibility extends far beyond one’s theme to the site content and media as well. More about that in this support guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/accessibility/

Hi Jennifer, thanks for your fast answer. I will have a look at both links and do some more research. Bee
