Please open up to support Google Fonts!
-
I saw a previous topic on this but it was closed – but I would very much like to throw my hat in the ring for Google Fonts support. I’m not a particular fan of Typekit and *very strongly* prefer to be allowed the option to use Google Fonts since the upgraded ability to customize does carry a cost and I just presumed this would be a capability that would be supported when the time came.
Who’s with me?
Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback @kesseljunkie. I’m keeping an eye on requests like this one. We don’t have plans to change or add font providers soon, but we will probably look into that at some point in the future.
It would be cool to know which specific fonts people are interested in, so please leave a note here mentioning (and linking them) if you have ideas about that!

Well I don’t have a specific list of fonts per se, though personally I’m a fan of Jacques Francois, Special Elite, Economica and Roboto Condensed.
It’s just that I didn’t care for the way that the current Typekit tool worked when I implemented it before by tagging the site with the Typekit piece in the lower right and found that the fonts didn’t deliver the way I had hoped they would. It’s possible they’ve improved since, but Google’s Fonts load super fast and have a pretty impressive library (and also don’t demand credit).

Thanks very much for the feedback. The feedback matters and will be reviewed the next time we make modifications to the Custom Fonts theme. Something like this does take time to implement/change if that’s what the developers decide to do.
In the mean time, maybe give Typekit another chance. :) I think it’s a good solution, and if you find the fonts aren’t delivering they way you’d hoped, please post details in a new thread and I will help you look into it to make sure everything’s running like it should be.

All right, I’ll stop being a curmudgeon and give TypeKit another chance for now.
Thanks very much for being so quick and thoughtful in your replies – this is one of the reasons I love to use WordPress. Customer service matters. :)
