PLEASE READ: Upgrading! Thank you for your patience!

Nobody supports this forum?
Yes, someone supports this forum thank you very much. I asked you if you could see your pages within your “Manage Pages” page and you replied by talking about the missing pages from your blog. You never answered my question.
Now, I ask again. Are the posts still listed in your “Manage Pages” page? An answer would be nice instead of the reply you gave. If they are, then you’re fine.
Folks, please read the first post in this thread.

Just for the record, I don’t have categories on my blog either. Posts have disappeared as well and then come back. Am I flipping out like some people? No. Why? Please I read the first post in this thread about the upgrading they are doing. They have said that things maybe a little bonkie for the time being. If they’re doing what I think they’re doing, it’ll be for the better.
Folks, think for a minute. Last number I heard was they had 87,000 blogs here. When I roll out changes over my sites that I host, it usually takes about 5-10 seconds per site. If I had 87k sites at 5 seconds per site, that would be…
Ah, heck, it would be a long time. :)
Lets please let them do what they have to do, stop with the insulting comments, and we’ll get through this.
Please note that NO ONE has reported a down blog for longer than a few minutes. And a reminder that they do do backups.
Go have a soda or something. :)

I can see my newly created pages in the Manage Pages area, however they never appear on the actual site. I noticed when I changed the page status radio button to Publish, saved, and came back, it always stays in Draft

My Categories are gone but I am not complaining because I trust the WordPress.com Team with my life… :)
They will give us something better.
My advice for now is to post as usual, leave the rest of the admin aside until the upgrade is done…

mike – I did read that post and have done quite a bit of clicking around but still to no avail.
Not a big deal, was just wondering if I was doing something wrong

My blog has been down for over a day.. I am new to all this.. I am not being rude or anything.. I would just like to know when the anticipated up time will be for this blog.
thanks

Dear DrMike,
If I go to “Manage Pages” there is only two pages listed.
1) An older one, that appears as a tab in the frontend, but show no content. I can see the content in “Manage Pages” backend, in “draft” status but can’t change it to “published” status.
I used to have 7 pages (no posts)in this section. All of them dissapear.
2)Today, I tried to create a new one, but it’s still in “draft” status so It’s not visible on my homepage (frontend).—-
The other thing is that when I navigate the entire site, the lost pages seems to be converted to regular posts. ordered by the date of publication.
—-
Finally, if I go to “Write Post” into the backend, the first line titled “Your drafts” shows a list of 9 older items (posts).
All of them got pictures that were hosted in WordPress database or HTML attributes like “title”. If I click each item, they show the “title” attribute into the WYSIWYG editor or the picture alone with no text, as a content.—-
As other users, all my categories are gone from the frontend but I can see them into MANAGE/ CATEGORIES…

If an upgrade is in process, things will be dizzy -right? So, just stay calm for sometime. And since they are upgrading, I think it is a nice thing to bombard them with questions!
And as they said: “Then go grab a cup of tea, coffee or your favourite beverage and your site will be ok again when you return.”
-
Could be more than one cup… Giving an estimated completion time for stuff like this is a Very Bad Idea. If you do, it is 100% guaranteed that something will go wrong and delay the return of normal service, and then everybody will shout at you even more.
Status pages and announcements are a lovely idea (most of competition seem to have them, at any rate) but I very much doubt that wordpress.com has enough staff to keep them updated. Anyone who doubts this should look at the dev blog on wordpress.org.

drmike,
I couldn’t have said it better! :)
I saw I was having problems, but after seeing some posts, realized the only thing to do is wait… but patience is a virtue.
Thank you WordPress for the clean cut, lovely, and EASY blog application. I’ll be waiting for the upgrades to be finished. No rush… in the meantime, there’s books to be read. :)

My blog works fine for the most part…but not creating a “About” page….however if I manage pages it shows it. If I highlight where it says “view” it has the http://shawnsblog.wordpress.com// as the URL. If I click edit then it shows the content of the about page…saving doesn’t fix it and neither does deleting that page and recreating it… :(

And btw WordPress Rocks!!! Way to go!

Mike, you say 87K, and the home page says 102K, so it takes even longer! We’ve all been there, just sit tight and relax. If you don’t trust them to do the right thing, why register here in the first place?
