Please rein in the popup chat window

I’ve been sitting here trying to finish a post, and that danged “How can we help you window” keeps popping up. Sometimes it’s only the invitation, and sometimes it’s the whole window. It’s popped up probably twenty times in the past hour, and it’s utterly distracting.
What’s worse, every time I try to type a request in the window — like, “go away, please, I don’t need you,” the window closes and I can’t send the message.
I presume you might be working on the system, but honestly — enough is enough. I have work to do!

Sorry to hear you were having trouble with the chat window. We did deploy a recent change, so you may have been caught in the middle of the deploy. Is the chat window still behaving like this?

It did pop up perhaps five or six times this morning, in the space of an hour. If it appears only as a blue bar with an option to close or open, and I try to open it, it goes away. If the entire window with the typing screen opens, by the time I type one line, it goes away.
I’m happy to mark this “resolved” now if you like. I mostly wanted to be sure that the developers knew about the issue. Thanks!

I’ll pass this along to the team. Can you confirm for me the URL of the page you’re on when this happens, your operating system, and browser version so we can do some testing?

It happens only when I’m using the (best-ever-and-ought-to-be-restored-to-prominence) classic editor. I’m using Windows 7 with updated Firefox, no add-ons. Thanks.
