Please Reinstate the Option of Choice to Use the Old Publishing Format

Actually, there was an answer, but I wouldn’t call it a very good one.
From jeremeylduvall:Also, no response to my comment about the number of bloggers unaware of the elimination of the link back to the classic editor because they haven’t deleted their cookies yet.
We’ve been tracking the statistic over the full course of the six months since implementation, and it has continued to steadily drop. This wasn’t a judgement based on a handful of weeks of data.

It’s not uncommon to launch a feature and then revise it several times over the next week.
We have a one-button deploy system for WordPress.com, and we push code to the site 60-80 times a day.
Shambolic improvisation, in both words. I am sure this is not the way to do it.

Pass the crying towel. I’m cracking right up. :D
I love singing this K D Lang’s Crying https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv7S8v3rM-UCrying over the missing link …

Some may prefer the duet (nice harmony)

Perhaps some are ready to fall to pieces … I also love singing this one.

This is just a friendly reminder that discussions going off-topic is one of the things that gets a thread closed, and I’m sure we want to keep this one open.

@timethief For those of us who use our website to help us earn a living, having lost the abilitly to work efficiently is a real problem. Have a little sympathy.
I missed where you explained how to simply reinstate the lost link to the classic editor. Could you please repeat that?
I won’t have time to set up a new platform and move off WP until summer, so for now I appreciated finding some humor in a bad situation. However, I would appreciate being able to continue to use the classic editor a few more months even more.

I don’t switch back and forth. I don’t use the new editor at all.
To use the classic editor to create posts like I do go to Dashboard > Posts > Add New
Here is the model so you can see the format
http://INSERT_NAME_OF_YOUR_BLOG_HERE/wp-admin/post-new.phpHere is the link to the page on your blog
http://explorationvacation.net/wp-admin/post-new.phpNote that you can bookmark that link.
To use the classic editor when you edit use the Posts -> All Posts menu, hover over the post title and click the Edit link.
Here’s the list of workarounds all in one place:

Thanks @timethief – that seems to work and should get me through for the time being.
To WP’s credit, they have improved the new editor from what they started with. It still isn’t efficient for me, but I can create and edit posts with it — which I couldn’t do with the earlier version.

@travelgalcindy
You’re welcome. Also note the links that leeinblack posted above please.Every new iteration will result in improvements as the feedback bloggers provide become the base for the changes made. That said, I do have full confidence that once this bumpy roller coaster ride is done and the final iteration has been debugged, WordPress.COM staff will have created a rockin editor that will rival the classic editor.

I’ve deleted some posts that were getting too close to the disrespectful line. Please keep your irritation focused on the editor and not on each other. Thanks!

Nibbling at the problem piece by piece should have been done before the new editor was launched … and certainly WAY before the option button was removed.
We don’t want work-arounds … we don’t want piece meal solutions. We simply want the choice to return to a well designed Classic version. The whole purpose of this thread was to show our support for CHOICE.
WP made some tweaks to the new Stats page … but they weren’t nearly sufficient. The choice button remains … but it’s at the far bottom after a lot of scrolling. And yesterday they sneakily removed the “Referrers” … a crucial stat ..from the classic version. Clearly an arm twist.
We want Choice … that’s it. And those who share “work-arounds” seem to be unaware that WP could very easily just shut down parts of the classic … or remove access completely.
It’s an all or nothing here. We want choice. Not some tweaks which won’t resolve the basic difficulties and which merely serve to shut up protests. A little sop to the peasants who are complaining. That’s all. And as an example just see what they did to the Stats page. And they only made those small changes when it was clear ten pages of scrolling was unworkable.,
Let’s keep together and focus on the main request. Choice.
“I Mua’ Forward.
