Please Reinstate the Option of Choice to Use the Old Publishing Format

adele i was given these links:
Your classic dashboard is here:
https://freekindlebooksoftheday.wordpress.com/wp-admin/Your classic editor is here:
https://freekindlebooksoftheday.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpthe problem for me is that i need to edit so many entries each day to delete books that have increased in price and this is doing my head in. I detest the new editor, it never works properly and i can’t see it very well at all :(

Has anyone found where the shortlink function is on the new one – because I can’t find it anywhere?
The Shortlink function only appears once you save the draft.. which you can only do once you have entered some text (otherwise an error appears).
It is a button in the ‘Sharing’ dropdown on the left.

kauilapele, it’s all nonsense isn’t it? why all the other steps? This is my first proper blog and now I hate wordpress i hate it hate it hate it.

@adeleinslovnia
The shortlink is not available in the new editor, as far as I know. You need to use the classic editor to use the shortlink. However, if you simply want to share it you can also get the shortlink by viewing your blog, hovering your mouse over My Sites in the admin bar, and the shortlink will appear at the bottom of the drop-down menu. -
Oh yes, now I see it – thanks!
Has anyone found where the total all time views are in the new stats page? I can’t believe that this is not available, it seems crazy to me. I have to go to the old stats page every time and I’m worried that will disappear some time soon too.

so sad considering I thought it a nice little blogging site just a few months ago. But i’ve told all my friends who were asking about doing blogs themselves to forget it and when i explain why they agree with me. I’ve got a ukulele songbook on blogspot and that’s always been fine. I just thought i’d try something different – BIG MISTAKE!

@kauilapele
To jazzylemon… Keep this link handy:
YOURBLOGURL/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats
It takes you straight to the older stats page.
That’s the link to the really old stats page. The slightly newer one, referred to by most as the classic stats since the newest one was forced on us, can be found here: https://wordpress.com/my-stats/
It works the same as the really old one, but a bit more streamlined, unlike the brand new one.

Again, it isn’t there. Bookmark the classic stats page at https://wordpress.com/my-stats/ for now. I’ll hope with you that they don’t cancel that one.

If this carries on I’m going to have to find another site to host my blog. What a shame. Thanks all for the responses.

I know there are different links and different workarounds. That’s the problem. There shouldn’t be. We should be able to use the editor we choose without having to re-log in and go to this that and the other site every single time. What happens when i get a new computer? What happens when i’m away without my computer but want to work on my blog – i haven’t missed a day yet! And this includes 2 years previous when i was merely posting on a forum. I work far too hard on this blog as it is for no reward whatsoever.
Before the forced changes, before the changes to the stats page i was actually considering buying not one domain, but two (the other for my work with some new cameras). I was working out what would be the best names and how best to tell my friends I’m moving my current blog – and then this has happened and everything has gone sour.
I feel like no one listens and no one cares. I don’t want to work under these conditions. I’m very upset and very angry – i feel cheated that they drew me in with something usable and then have switched it for an editor for a toddler to use on his tablet. what’s this ‘yay! you published a blog’ ? It makes me feel physically ill.

Amen, arquivletras!
Even if i could easily SEE the new editor, which hurts my eyes and gives me a headache, why should i have to copy all my tags one by one every day. Most of them are the same tags!
by the way, this forum is also very hard to see :(((

The lack of a response from WP in this topic is interesting.
Either ‘they’ are taking this very seriously, and debating long into the night, what path of action to take, to make their users ‘happy’ again (bearing in mind how seriously they take ‘happiness’).
Or maybe, they are ignoring us, waiting for the furore to die down, and for the noisy minority to crawl back under their collective rocks.
My fear is that it is the latter. Of the hundreds of thousands of users, we are a tiny minority.
I work in software delivery, and their approach of delivering functional change to a user community, with no user engagement is simply staggering.
Or maybe there was engagement, but none of us were invited to the party.

Just adding my support to this.
I want the old editor. The bee-boop, blue screen of death, is not good enough. I have hated it since it was introduced, and had no function to save drafts at all.
Now, I can edit with the classic editor when I click “edit” from my list of posts, but no longer when I click “edit” from the drop-down at the top of the screen showing the post. I can’t click “edit” from the link by the title of the post, either, because it takes me to the Blue Screen of Death.
This makes things much much worse. I have to go to the list of posts. Why should I?
And, while they’re at it, remove the link to the “improved posting experience” from the classic editor. It is not an “improved posting experience”. When WordPress lies, I trust them less.
-
The old editor was much better than this one. I have just tried to edit a post and the new editor will not let me remove tags or categories and write new ones.
-
To keep this thread about the editor, we should take all discussion about the new stats page to this thread:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/classic-stats-how-to-set-two-not-closed
That thread is (at least, was) being monitored by staff.
I’ve also just posted something there to bring the old stats link to the top and to force a redirect to the old stats page. -
Just in case Staff (the developers) missed this I also support the return of the link to the classic editor and like many I am cursing your for removing it and the inconvenience that removal has caused bloggers. Perhaps Staff (the developers) would like to take a look at the 24 pages of threads under this tag recovering a lost post or page and focus their attention on fixing what’s driving bloggers crazy like content loss.
Provided you did not create the post in the new Beep Beep Boop editor where it’s saved only on your browser, and is not auto-saved to the servers for your blog you may be able to recover a lost post or page.
