PLEASE REMOVE FALSE WEBSITE LINK
-
Our Australian PLant Society group recently registered http://apsmorningtonpeninsula.org/ with WordPress but whenever I have tried to add a menu/page etc it takes me to https://wordpress.com/page/apsmorningtonpeninsulaorg.wordpress.com
which seems to indicate an entirely different site will contain our information.
PLEASE DELETE THE FALSE WEBSITE SO WE CAN GET STARTED ON OUR REAL WEBSITE.
THANKSThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Nameservers Validated!
Congratulations! The nameservers appear to be set up correctly for apsmorningtonpeninsula.org.
More Information
Primary Blog is Setapsmorningtonpeninsula.org is set as the primary domain for apsmorningtonpeninsula.wordpress.com and will appear in the address bar when you visit the site.
your caps lock key seems to be stuck from time to time causing to you shout – the key should be repaired
since you have domain mapping you will always work in the dashboard of apsmorningtonpeninsula.wordpress.com to work on your site – your visitors will see apsmorningtonpeninsula.org.
that is the way Domain Mapping works – everything is working fine – no need to delete anything – in fact if you delete apsmorningtonpeninsula.wordpress.com – that will also delete apsmorningtonpeninsula.org
good luck with your new site
-
Thanks. so if that is the case how come when I create a new item it doesn’t appear in the Yoko theme. It appears in some other theme with orange and brown circles at the top when I preview it.
-
keep i mind that you have TWO web sites here
apsmorningtonpeninsula.wordpress.com – that you want to work in
and
apsmorningtonpeninsulaorg.wordpress.com. – the one linked to your name
-
https://apsmorningtonpeninsula.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php
https://apsmorningtonpeninsula.wordpress.com/wp-login.php
sometimes people create a second site by accident – the links for the one you want is above
set the extra site to private or change the name to Our Test Site or something to reduce the confusion
Dashboard >> Settings >> Read >> Blog is visible to only those I choose – remember to save changes – that will also keep search engines out
Dashboard >> Settings >> General >> you can change title and tagline
-
PS – please don’t delete the extra site – about half the time people delete the “extra” site they goof and delete the good site and then there is a real problem getting that mix-up fixed
good luck

you can login at: http://apsmorningtonpeninsula.org/wp-login.php
but you will be redirected to: https://apsmorningtonpeninsula.wordpress.com/wp-login.php
which is the base WordPress.COM blog that you have the domain mapping attached to – you always work in the base blog and not the mapped domain name – that is the way domain mapping works
you might need to add your users to https://apsmorningtonpeninsula.wordpress.com/ so they can work with the site –
I have also flagged this for the staff to help – maybe they can explain it better

Thank you for all of your help @auxclass!
@apsmornpen: To further explain the points that have been made, your two sites are as follows:
1. apsmorningtonpeninsulaorg.wordpress.com.
2. apsmorningtonpeninsula.wordpress.com. You have registered a custom domain, apsmorningtonpeninsula.org, to this site.
Any visitors to your second site will always be redirected to apsmorningtonpeninsula.org and only you will see the base site address while logged into your admin area.
If you only wish for one of those two sites to be publicly available then I recommend setting the first site to private. This can be done under the “Visibility” section of your General Settings:
https://wordpress.com/settings/general/apsmorningtonpeninsulaorg.wordpress.com
Once you have set that site to private, it will be hidden from search engines and the general public.
We’re right here if any questions come up while getting setup. :)

Hi siobhb
thanks for your reply.
there are still a couple of unresolved points. hopefully you can help.Firstly, can apsmorningtonpeninsulaorg.wordpress.com. be totally removed/closed down. it is not our intention to use it.
Secondly our intention is not to have the ‘real’ aps site, apsmorningtonpeninsula.org as part of my site markallison55.wordpress.com (Born to Travel) I must have been logged in when we set up the site for the aps group by mistake. So how can the user name and password for the apsmorningtonpeninsula.org
be re-set so that group members can access it using the group’s details (email visible only to moderators and staff) ?Previously in an email I received I was told to update the email in my account but if I update this for the aps group will it effect my access for my markallison55.wordpress.com (Born to Travel) site?
Thanks -
Hello!
Firstly, can apsmorningtonpeninsulaorg.wordpress.com. be totally removed/closed down. it is not our intention to use it.
It can. Before you permanently delete your site, please double check whether there’s any content that isn’t already on your primary site, apsmorningtonpeninsula.org, and that you wish to retain. Once you are certain that you’d like to delete the site and all of its content, head to My Sites in the upper left corner of WordPress.com, select your site, and then navigating to Settings in the sidebar:
https://wordpress.com/settings/general/apsmorningtonpeninsulaorg.wordpress.com
Scroll down to the very bottom of the above page and choose the option to Delete Site. You can follow the screen prompts from there.
Again, please be aware that site deletions are permanent. Double check that you’re deleting the correct site and that you have no wanted content on it before proceeding to delete.
Secondly our intention is not to have the ‘real’ aps site, apsmorningtonpeninsula.org as part of my site markallison55.wordpress.com (Born to Travel) I must have been logged in when we set up the site for the aps group by mistake. So how can the user name and password for the apsmorningtonpeninsula.org be re-set so that group members can access it using the group’s details (email visible only to moderators and staff) ?
If you would like one of your WordPress.com sites to be associated with a completely different username, then you can follow our steps to transfer it to another account:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
Let me know if any questions come up while walking through those steps.

Hi again.
Thanks for your clear instructions. I am attempting to do the second item, transferring the aps website to the APS group. However, in step 2, when I click Transfer blog the screen reverts back to the step 1 screen. Also I am not receiving any email regarding this transfer. -
