PLEASE remove followers/users – blog is private

  Running into the same nuisance… Have made my blog private a LONG time ago, yet I keep getting the ‘so-and-so is now following your blog’ notification. I feel out of control of the administration of my own blog. Especially since we don’t have the ability to delete them ourselves. I want to eventually take it premium but if I keep having this issue… Please, SOMEBODY, ANYBODY remove ALL followers from my blog. Any effective help would be appreciated it thank you!

  We cannot block or delete subscribers from public blogs. Anyone and everyone can access public blogs and that’s indeed what the public designation means.   Hi.

  I do see that the blog is private, have you tried to remove the followers using:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/#viewing-and-removing-viewers-from-a-private-blog.

  If that doesn’t work, let me know and we can escalate this to have a staff member intervene to try to help.

  Hi @auxford,

  As your blog is private users can’t follow your blog. If your site was public at one time it is possible that you did have followers but these followers will not see new posts as long as the site is private.

  I don’t see any followers on your site. Can you confirm that https://auxford.wordpress.com is the private site you are seeing followers on? Also can you provide more details regarding the notifications?

  @rkoffy just to clarify, that support doc is relevant for removing viewers that the site owner invites to view their site after they’ve made their site visibility Private. It doesn’t affect followers who were following the site previously when it was Public.

  As @bdukes mentioned, anyone who was previously following the Public site is cut off when the site visibility is changed to Private.
