‘Please Set a Primary Site’ Deathloop
-
Hi there,
This afternoon, the Stats page for my site Cool Pyro Products suddenly white-screened and popped up an error saying I needed to “add a Primary Site to my account settings.” When I visit this section of the Account Settings, there is no dropdown to add a primary site. This makes sense based on the Help page; I only have one active site with this account. It’s even selected as Primary on the Manage Blogs page. A loading wheel of death shows up on the far right if I click the blue Primary circle, and nothing ever happens. No changes have been made since July 4th (a new review post).
Under Manage Blogs, my site’s name still appears but the link does not. Only a general public-api.wordpress.com link displays. If I mouse over this link, it shows coolpyroproducts.wordpress.com as the URL it would/should head to, but I get a blank white page when I try to access the site directly? I have tried the Bulk Action “Show Blog on Dashboard” which, predictably, changed nothing.
I have over 430 posts on this site from the past seven years, so I would greatly appreciate not losing access to all this effort and so much material for the firework enthusiast community. The fact my site’s link doesn’t come up in the “help” list worries me; all it lists is a generic “public-api.wordpress” option.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I checked on our end and the stats page here appears to load without issue: https://wordpress.com/stats/day/coolpyroproducts.wordpress.com
Are you able to see it by visiting that direct link? Is the error message you are seeing at a different page URL instead?
Thanks for the additional info!

Hello there,
That link works perfectly. Interestingly enough, that is the link I have had bookmarked for the past 3 or 4 years in both of my browsers (Chrome or Edge). Also interesting, that link works just fine again today! I did a reboot of my PC overnight and I guess that fixed it somehow. I can see stats, I’m getting notifications, and my friends have been able to access my blog without issue. The only thing I didn’t think to try last night was to empty my browser cache. I know that can solve some issues with pages like these.
I appreciate you looking into the problem, even if it wound up self-resolved. Must have been something on my side that gave me some panic and gratitude for things still working!
