PLEASE STOP FLOODING – WordPress is down
-
I’m in Japan, I use Safari 5.1.5, and I cannot edit my polls, update my posts, and the dashboard menu is broken.
-
I understand the whole ‘flooding problem’, I just really hope my post doesn’t go un-noticed because of it, because my question isn’t about a problem, it’s a “how do I create this” question.

Canada, XP, FF14 and — over three accounts, and six blogs — everything’s just fine. Has anyone suggested the cookie dance thing yet?
1. Log out of your account
2. Empty your cache
3. Listen to some music
4. Restart your computer
5. Log back in… -
Everything works fine for me too. Many users have stated they’ve tried the clearing of the cache and whatnot and it’s still not working, so something must be amiss.
-
I wish they’d post something to this effect. I’ve been up for over an hour past when I needed to get to bed trying to fix this, thinking it was my cache or cookies. At least a sticky on the support forum . . . ???? Sigh.

To be fair to the staff, the string of complaints relating to the issues that some of us are experiencing are only hours old. I searched for any posts related to my issue (tags/editing links) before I posted and found only threads from months before. I posted less than five hours ago. It took me until a couple hours ago to realize that it wasn’t just me but that a crapton of people had similar issues.
I think ardpete’s advice is still salient: be patient and the staff will get back on shift and notice the pages and pages of material to that happened while they were gone.
-
I have two accounts and one is working fine, the other one has some of the same issues listed from other folks on the forum. Help button greyed out, can’t add media, preview displays empty page with ‘page not found’ message.
-
Honestly, in regards to a sticky, I think we should probably make a new thread that isn’t telling people to shut up about their problems–no offense. Perhaps we should create a thread to be stickied where people experiencing similar issues can post whatever information might be relevant to the developers. Less clunky, more streamlined delivery of information should make for an easier time dealing with the string of related problems.

Maybe this means something, from Zdnet posted 4 hours ago:
As always, criminals target what’s popular and vulnerable, and right now that includes the WordPress content management system.
“WordPress is a massive target for automated scanning programs. These things are just hitting every website on the whole stinking internet, looking for a vulnerable WordPress install,” Kirk said.
“If you’re not paying attention to security updates with WordPress, you’re in for a nasty surprise.

My problem started right after I “liked” someone for first the time. Even though I was already signed in, it asked me for my email and password. I liked others that did not require this but others did. Could there be a malware involved? I new to WordPress.

My problem is the quick edit doesn’t work. May be other things don’t work too , but just that I didn’t notice. I think the forum is helpful. Now I know WordPress is down. I’m going to sleep now. Goodnight.

The issues with users not being able to edit their polls, upload/edit media, and seeing their dashboard menu as broken should all be resolved now. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience!
(If your issue seems to persist, please try clearing your browser cache first.)
