@mirskontsa I’m not seeing that site on your subscription list. Have you tried clicking the unsubscribe link? I know that’s bad advice for some spam email providers, but for mail being sent from our servers, it does work.

Yes, I tried clicking unsubscribe, gmail writes “Are you sure you’d like to stop receiving similar messages from Southern Nights? If so, you’ll be taken to this link to unsubscribe. Learn more”
I click ‘unsubscribe’ and it sends me to the link starting with “https://subscribe.wordpress.com/”, and there is no subscription to Southern Nights.
But still I receive letters from his blog. -

Hi – What happens if you sign in to your email with a different internet browser and try unsubscribing? That may do the trick.
Do you see the site listed at https://wordpress.com/following/manage

I don’t see it listed at https://wordpress.com/following/manage
But looks like unsubscribing in different browser worked out, thanks (at least the counter went down by 1).

Hi there,
At what email address are you receiving emails? If it’s a different email address than the one you’re using for your WordPress.com account, clicking the Unsubscribe link will take you to the subscriptions for your WordPress.com account instead of the subscriptions for the other email.
In that case, please log out of WordPress.com completely, and then try unsubscribing.

Not sure whether my problem belongs to the same topic, but I couldn’t find another thread on this:
I have received 3 invites to follow blogs (seemingly something commercial selling candles and flooring).
As I didn’t know where these came from, I clicked “unsubscribe” in the emails, which led me to the WordPress subscription page. Here it says that I have 3 pending invitations “These are subscriptions that you have started, but not confirmed for …@…). I have not started those subscriptions, so I assume it’s spam but would like to find out whether
a) the invites came through my blog name or
b) through my e-mail address (which would make me wonder how they got my email address)
c) there is anything I can do to prevent receiving invites altogether.On the subscription page it says I can only block invites from blogs I am already following.

@kikiorleans it would seem the folks who invited you got your email address somehow, unfortunately.
The block all emails option should prevent these kinds of emails from coming through.

@supernovia Thanks for the info! I will keep an eye on this and will start a new topic if required as suggested by you.
The only thing unclear to me is that in “subscription management” the box “Block all email updates from blogs you’re following on WordPress.com” is already ticked, and that means I can only prevent emails from those I already follow and not others like the ones I received. Or am I mistaken and looked in the wrong place? Is there anywhere else I can block e-mails?

That’s the box you’re looking for.
It should block ALL of them. If not, you might want to make sure that you don’t have any email filters and forwards set up. If you’re actually following from another email address but it’s being forwarded on the current one.

staff-zinnia I’m following a few choice blogs through the WP Reader only, I have no email subscriptions whatsoever. I have no filters or forwards set up on anything.
I have never been following those that I got these weird invites from, so I assume there is no way to block them. I’ll just accept that it’s spam and delete them if I get any more emails.

I’m the owner of the said site socialecologies… I never solicit anyone, period. The two possible ways people subscribe to my site are either the follow mechanism by way of WordPress itself, or by clicking on the ‘join by email’ button which from what I know has an unsubscribe built into it which is not under my control. So the persons or parties involved can opt out at any time according to the WordPress instructions.
I’ll assume from reading the message that you used the email subscribe function and would need to unsubscribe using the message from the browser in which this was first performed? Sorry, I’m not technical in the WordPress subscription service and could not find you as a subscriber in the WordPress log itself which leads me to believe you joined through the email based system itself and will need to unsubscribe using it not the WordPress unsubscribe function.
