"Please use a different payment card"

    Hello. I’m trying to purchase domain mapping for my account. However, when I try to pay, I receive the message ‘Please use a different payment card.’. I have had no issues with my card, and there are sufficient funds to pay for the transaction.

    What could be the problem?

    Which country are you in? Maybe that’s a factor or maybe not. WordPress.com uses PayPal as a payment processor, and as such, they can only accept payment from countries PayPal supports: https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/

    In addition to major credit cards Mastercard, VISA, American Express, Discover, and PayPal https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/ WordPress.com can accept echecks and some debit cards.

    The debit card must have a VISA or Mastercard symbol on it, and should work just like a credit card when selecting the VISA or Mastercard option on the payment form, even though it’s a debit card.

    Hi eleanoraretif,

    I looked into it, and I found that the transaction that you are trying to complete is returning an error of “Gateway Declined.” You should contact PayPal directly to find out why your payment is not being accepted: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_contact-phone
