Plone-like file management etc
-
Good day all,
I am looking to create a intranet in our company for organization of catalogs, reference material, test results, supplier contact details, etc.
My first instinct was to reach for plone, however our IT manager suggested I try wordpress.
I have spent many hours digging through hundreds of plug-ins and have yet to find a solution.
Here are the basics:
1. Upload a pdf
2. Add tags to the pdf for search and cross reference with other pdfs and or suppliers.
3. Have an “ftp” like structure for guests (other colleagues) to access from the intranet site where they can search, comment etc on each file.In plone this is dead simple to implement, you litterilly just “add new file” and you get a browseble list of files. You can even add subdirectories to keep things a bit cleaner.
My main concern is the tagging of the files as each file might have 20 – 30 tags in the end.
File away has the look I need, but it lacks all the functionality I need as it simply lists the contents of a directory, for this I can litterally put up a NAS, dump the files on there and be done with it. I need a more integrated solution.
My second step is, I need to create a contact book for all the suppliers (who’s catalogs are in question above) with all the general information you would expect: Supplier name, contact name, number, email, account details, etc.
Please advise if wordpress would be able to assist me in this, and what plug-ins to consider.
Kind regards,
