  WordPress.com does not offer the option to install third-party plugins. If you would like more control over plugins and the option to install your own, a WordPress.org setup would be the best solution for you.

  Thanks Darnell. That makes sense and is as i suspected.

  Ideally I shall like to download the content of my writing site as a document file on my laptop or other hardrive for future reference.
