Plug In Installation

Hello, I hope all is well with the support staff. I am having issues re-installing the plugin Elementor, and it’s Addons Plugin. I purchased the Pro version, and attempted to install the .zip file I was given. However, an error came up, where it said ‘the file detination ‘xxx.pro plugin’ already exists. The Pro features were never unlocked, nor the other components of the Pro version. I eventually unistalled and deactivated both Elementor + the Addon Plugin, and still the issue existed. I attempted to redownload Elementor once it was previously deleted, and it said that the Plugin already existed.

I eventually used WP_Reset Plugin to reset all my website to reinstall the Elementor Plugin (or Pro if it allowed), but the same error continued. I also opened up php editor to see if I can remove the plugins there— but the WP_Plugins folder did not exist post-WP_Reset.

I am all out of ideas, and I am unable to work on my project now. I would truly appreciate your assistance; I am new at this and it’s been quite difficult to move past this issue.

    Thank you!

  • Hi there,

Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider, so we don’t have any access to or control over it from our side.

As the problem appears to be with Elementor specifically, I recommend you contact their support directly. If you have Elementor Pro, you should be able to contact their support at https://elementor.com/support/

For general help with the version of WordPress you’re using, you can ask the WordPress.org community over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

I also opened up php editor to see if I can remove the plugins there— but the WP_Plugins folder did not exist post-WP_Reset.

I don’t know of any PHP editor within WordPress itself where you’ll be able to access the Plugins folder. To make changes to that folder, like manually deleting a plugin, you’ll instead need to connect to your server using a FTP client like Filezilla, and use that to delete the files. For help accessing your server via FTP, please contact your hosting provider directly.
