Plug in is not compatible

I am trying to upload a zip file with a plug in I coded myself. I tested it in a local version of my site and it works fine. However, when I try to upload it live it does not let me. Any idead on how I can fix this issue?

  • Hey there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

This would be tricky to troubleshoot as helping with custom development is out of scope for the support we provide.

What does the plugin do? I’m wondering if there’s something in there that could put this into our incompatible list.

    Many thanks in advance!

Well it turns out the error was because I was uploading it wrong. i was able to upload it later and it works fine. I also tested the plugin in a local wordpress site with the same plugins and theme and it worked fine. However, once I uploaded it to my live wordpress site. The moment I select my payment gateway they all disappear why is that? any ideas on how to fix it?

  • Hi there,

It is hard to say without knowing more about the plugin you installed. Depending on the type of plugin you installed, it may be incompatible. As @aleone89 mentions, there are certain types of plugins that we disallow due to security issues. Please let us know the type of plugin that was installed.

Also, does everything reappear when you disable or uninstall your plugin? That would most likely confirm that there is some sort of plugin conflict going on.

Let us know and we’ll be able to point in the right direction for support. Thanks!

Yes, so the plugin is a payment gateway. My code is based off of other payment gateways so I dont see why it might be incompatible or a security issue. The plugin settings work fine no matter what. I dont need to deactivate the plugin for my payment gateways to reappear. It just happens that during checkout when I choose the plugin payment option is when they all disappear and it doesnt let me chekout. Again, there are no bugs, or errors with the plugin as I have tested it in local host. Most likely or what I think it could be is a security issue? But I dont see anything risky about the plugin or my code. Hopefully, there is a way we can fix this.

PS: When I select the payment option. It loads up everything behind the transparent loading screen. I have some fields that are supposed to show up and they do but once the loading screen finishes all forms of payment disappear including this one and I get a message up top saying no valid payment method.

    Before selecting “Zelle payment”

After selecting Zelle Payment (all payment options disappear after loading screen)

Visuals. (Still happens if I disable all other gateways)

  • Hey there,

Many thanks for that additional information! What made you want to build your own payment gateway? That’s quite a feat so I’m curious. :)

I don’t think you can accurately compare what’s running on a localhost and on a live server, whether it’s for WordPress.com or other hosting providers, mainly because there may be elements of the server environment that are outside of your control. Probably more so with payment gateways because of the security involved.

Additionally, probably related to the above – is there a reason why you’re looking to not use a payment gateway that’s already built?

    Looking forward to hearing more.

Yes. First of all Ideally I need two payment gateways so that one can be shown in dollars and one in local currency when selected. There isnt any gateway that can accurately display the banking information I need to provide. Second, I need customers to upload a screen capture because its what people are used to here to validate payments. There is no gateway that I know of that allows me to add an upload file field and lets me view that file in the orders page. I have found others that let me make multiple gateways and add payment form fields. This works, however, I need to pay and they dont have the upload file field option that I want. I have been able to code those gateways myself they are simple enough and feel I shouldnt pay for something I know how to do and doesnt completely satisfy my needs. If you now of any extensions/plugin that allows me to create custom gateways and payment forms with the option to uplaod an image it would be perfect.

Isnt there a way to just allow my plugin to work no matter what?? Like some sort of exception for the plugin to work?

Thanks again. I know this thread might be annoying and unnecesary but its been a very long learning process for me. If there were payment gateways that had these options many Venezuelan ecommerce sites would use wordpress/woocommerce.

You must realise a bad plugin means a very high security risk for a website. Certainly when you are dealing with other people money, your plugin must be 200% safe. If not, you are responsable if things go wrong.

I hope you realise you just can’t copy and clone other plugins and hope the payement gateways will accept your transactions despite being unsafe.

    I guess thank you though.
