Plug-in: PayPal Button
-
I am having trouble figuring out how to insert a PayPal button.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Here’s the link for your to follow – https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
Pay close attention to the instructions as some code aren’t compatible with WordPress.com and will be stripped out leaving you with no PayPal button.
Hope that helps. -
Thank you 4gn3I! This worked beautifully!!! The only glitch that remains is that from the editing section, the link works and is directed to PayPal. However, when I click the button for the website, the link doesn’t work. Thank you again.
-
I understand your query. Can you suggest an example page on your website where that is happening?
-
Dear 4gn3, If you go to my website drrokbad.com and select the second link on the menu, you will see the PayPal button. Thank you.
-
The code from Paypal will not work on a wordpress.COM site. Know that the only instructions that will work for posting a PayPal donation button on a WordPress.com blog are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
Note that the PayPal email link is not supported and PayPal customization options are not supported either https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/paypal-button-41?replies=12#post-2517229 This is not likely to be changed any time soon, if at all.
If you do not succeed state which step you get stuck on here and then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. Hey there,
I found out the reason why it is not working for you. You have not mapped your domain drrokbad.com to your WordPress.com site rokbadblog.wordpress.com.
Opening the button in a new tab loads the screen. I guess PayPal doesn’t allow its site to load inside a frame due to security reasons. So, please map your domain to your website as soon as possible for it to work as desired.
You can find the pricing at https://wordpress.com/pricing/ Upgrading to any plan allows you to register a new domain or map your existing domain for free.
-
Or hey, you can try to set the link to open in a new tab. But anyways, upgrading allows you to unlock a few more features which can be found on the pricing page itself.

Hello everyone –
It looks like the PayPal button at https://rokbadblog.wordpress.com/healing-arts/ is working properly. Please reply if there’s something I’ve missed or anything else I can assist with.
-
dear lizkarkoski, thank you for your response. yes, indeed the PayPal button is working on https://rokbadblog.wordpress.com/healing-arts/. however, it is not working on “drrokbad.com”, which is the url i share with people. 4gn3I has pointed out that the two are not mapped to each other. warmly, rokbad
-
dear 4gn3I, thank you again. you have been tremendously helpful. here, i am not entirely clear on what the following means: “You have not mapped your domain drrokbad.com to your WordPress.com site rokbadblog.wordpress.com.” if i chose the personal package of $2.99, then will the issue be rectified? warmly, rokbad

Yes, the WordPress.com Personal Plan offers a domain credit that you can use to set up mapping. First, add the plan to your account from wordpress.com/pricing/ and then go to My Sites > Domains > Add > Mapping.
These are the step-by-step instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
Right now, drrokbad.com is set up using an iframe technique so nothing linked to that site is going to actually work. This is why domain mapping is the preferred method.
