  Hi, can I upload plugins on the free wordpress version?

  Sadly, only sites with the Business Plan can upload custom plugins. However, all sites do get access to some plugins automatically.

  There are also some incompatible plugins to be aware of which cannot be used on WordPress.com entirely. Those are listed here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incompatible-plugins/

  If you state what you’re trying to do though, there may be some alternatives, so feel free to ask. If you really wish to use plugins, you may wish to try self-hosted WordPress as the majority of hosting providers allow them. View the difference: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
