Plug Ins?
-
Is there a plugin on wordpress that allows for secured, password protected area for some of my content to reside?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you asking about the blog linked to your name that is 12 minutes old or another blog?
If you need help with another blog we need the URL to give you an accurate answer
No Plug-in’s are allowed at WordPress.COM, they are on a WordPress.ORG install

Okay … maybe plug-in is the wrong terminology. I’m looking to have a password protected area on my site. How do I go about doing that?
-
I would like a specific area where only people with a username and password can view certain types of content.
Is that possible?
As Auxclass keenly pointed out – I am new to WP and thought it was a plugin that does this but it doesn’t look like it.
Thoughts?

What is your suggestion on how to embed a discussion forum on my wordpress.com site?

Thank You

Short answer: No, that is not possible. If you buy hosting and install software from Drupal or Joomla with blog software from WordPress.org then yes it’s possible.
Long answer: You can password protect any page or post on your blog here, but you have to do it one at a time because there are no ‘areas’ per se in WP.com blogs, and plugins are not allowed here for security reasons.
jprzydzial, please search the forum. We’ve answered that question numerous times.

You can password protect any Post or Page here – in the same box as the Publish button – but it is one password per Post / Page – no username / sign-in unless you make the blog private – so people can share the passwords if they want – you can also make one password for all the pages / posts if you want – not all that secure but some do –
You can’t embed a forum here – you can set up a forum on a forum hosting site and link to the forum from your blog

@jprzydzial
At present there are no chatboxes or forums I am aware of that can be used on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. There is no FTP access and we cannot install plugins. However, you have three free workaround forum options: http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/04/23/wordpress-com-forum-options/
