I want to use a plugin to allow me to restrict parts of my blog to different subscriber levels. I just purchased WishList Member to do this, however when I went to upload it I couldn’t find a plug in button and now I read you don’t allow them? How do I navigate this? Is WishList -Member safe? Could I use it if I was ‘self hosting’? How would I self host? Thanks. I really want to have this functionality and have discussed with you guys and was told I could not get that functionality via WordPress software. What do I do? Thanks.

You can indeed only get plugin functionality via the self-hosted version of WordPress.org. If you would like to pursue that avenue, there are a few options available for you when it comes to transferring over to WordPress.org:
If you’re interested, we do offer an upgrade called Guided Transfer (available in the Store section of your blog’s Dashboard) where we take care of everything for you: http://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/
Otherwise, you’ll need to install WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ on a hosting provider. We have some recommendations at http://get.wp.com/hosting/
Once that’s done, you can move your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
