Hello, I’m new to WordPress.
I signed up for free but have upgraded to the $129 version and I created my own domain name. Now I would like to add some plug-ins, but I am really confused about WordPress.com vs WordPress.org!…
Do I need to pay for a web host given I have already paid $129 to WordPress and already have my own domain name?

Thank you so much for responding to my inquiry! I’ve been quite confused how to set up a blog – whether to to sign up with wordpress.com or wordpress.org, and whether it’s better to buy a domain name separately or through wordpress, and whether I have to pay extra for a web host or not…? And then there’s choosing a theme! Is it worth paying extra?
Can I ask which you would recommend? I basically want to set up a lifestyle blog, so I want to be able to display text and images, and ideally collages of images. I would hugely appreciate any insight you may able to give me :)

It sounds like WordPress.com would work great for you! Paying for a webhost and going self hosted is more involved on the technical side because you need to keep your WordPress software, plugins, and themes up to date yourself. But here at WordPress.com, we do all of that for you so you can focus on blogging. :D
And adding collages of image is easy with our Gallery feature! I think you’ll really like our tiled galleries especially.
