Plug-ins and import themes are not displayed in dashboard.

  Plug-ins and import themes are not displayed in dashboard. How do I get these two options to appear?

  There is no FTP access to WordPress.com blogs and we can’t install plugins or upload any third party themes They are only for WordPress.com installs.

  On free hosted wordpress.COM blogs we can only use the themes which have been coded to run on this multi-user software and made available to us here. > Appearance > Themes and no others.

  If you wish to have complete control over a blog, the ability to upload themes and plugins, and to edit themes and templates then your option is to hire a web host and get a free software install from WordPress.ORG and self host it.

  You’re welcome. Do note that there is no upgrade you can purchase from WordPress.com that provides FTP access and the ability to upload third party themes, except for VIP hosting and I don’t think that’s what you are aiming for. http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/

  I just watched a video from a wordpress expert who demonstrated that within dashboard, there is a PLUGIN menu. My dashboard does not display the PLUGIN menu. Also, under the APPEARANCE menus, once selecting themes there was a tab that for uploading themes are available on the web, possible at WordPress.org. I will continue checking into this because my coworker also has a PLUGIN menu available through her WordPress site. Thank you for your feedback!

  We don’t allow plugins on WordPress.com for security reasons. Plugins are a feature only available for self-hosted blogs provided through WordPress.org. You can find out more about this topic here:

  Similarly, themes can’t be uploaded to WordPress.com. That’s a feature of self-hosted blogs through WordPress.org.
